After classes a friend and I ventured off to find a tack store (horses) named Equus. I wanted to see what they had, and I love going into tack stores! It was really nice and they had a lot of expensive things, but a lot of regular clothes and jackets on sale. I was maybe hoping to find some cheap riding boots and chaps, as I hope to ride some while I am in Europe. They only seemed to have 2 types of boots and the others looked like they were used. Usually tack stores at least have like 4 types of tall boots, a bunch of short paddock boots, and different types of half-chaps out, but they didn't so that made me think that they didn't have very many or they were all really expensive. We looked around, and saw some stuff we liked, and then left. Maybe I can find someone who rides horses in Spain, and speaks English, to tell me all the Spanish horse lingo and give me some advice on where to ride and buy stuff.
Claire and I then took the metro home. We had breaded/fried chicken, fries, bread, and salad for dinner...yum! It was really tasty. But I was talking to one of my friends the other day and she said her Senora made her and her roommates hamburgers and fries...not fair! Crossing my fingers that our Senora will make that one day.
Things I have learned in Spain:
- It rains a lot (well not really a lot but it rains). I didn't think it rained this much in Spain
- People on the metro have lightning fast reflexes when there is an open seat
- Everyone is so fit because they walk everywhere
- Spain is the 2nd biggest consumer of fish, following Japan
- The trilogy of Mediterranean foods (which includes Spain) is olive oil, wine (grapes) and bread (wheat)....they definitely eat a lot of that here.
- The trilogy of North American foods is beans, squash, and corn...not eaten a lot in the U.S. but in Mexico
- If the conquistadors of Spain had not discovered America, Spain would not have gazpacho (made of tomatoes) or tortillas (made of potatoes)
¡Adios!
